Housing Design Awards 2018

Housing Design Awards 2018

We are delighted to announce that Chapter House, our Later Living scheme in the centre of Lichfield and our design for a sensitive new development of homes in Lydden, Kent have both been shortlisted for a Housing Design Award.

Chapter House, draws inspiration from the Lichfields' historic walled gardens and the original cloistered form of the medieval friary which once occupied the site. Accommodation consists of 38 new apartments and incorporates a number of internal and external facilities which encourage neighbourly interaction between new residents and locals helping to nurture a sense of community, security and belonging.

Located south of the village of Lydden in Kent, on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) the design for 31 new homes grew out of a contextual response to the village and its surroundings. The site is characterised by a dramatic topography - offering panoramic views across the valley to the tree and pastureland landscape of Lydden Hill, and the Temple Ewell Nature Reserve. The designs seek to ensure that the characteristics of Lydden are respected and that the new development nestles sensitively within the existing fabric of the village.

The award winners will be announced at a presentation ceremony on the 2nd of July.
